Upgrading Older Accounts

The changes launched in August 2008 offer significant improvements to MyFertilityCharts.com. Users that used the site before can optionally upgrade to the new server. This is done using a Transfer link on the main menu after logging into their old account. For the most part, just about all of the features of the older site are now accessible for free with the new site under a basic free subscription.

If you are considering transferring your account, you should read this page to better understand your options and the changes. You may also want to view Screen Captures of the new site to better appreciate the changes and enhancements.

Creating New Accounts

If you made an account on My Fertility Charts before the new features were released in August 2008, then you should consider upgrading to the new version. There are two ways to do this.

1. You can transfer your account.
   • To do this, login to your old account first. You will find a Transfer link on the main menu. Use this link to transfer your account to the new server. Once complete, all of your data will be moved to the new server and you will no longer log into the old system.
   • When you transfer your account, you will be given the same promotional premium subscription as users who create new accounts. You will also retain any older credits. These credits will be translated into an equivalent subscription length where each credit is worth 1 day.
2. You can abandon your older data and just create a new account
• To do this, just register on the new site and create an account. In doing so, you will no longer be able to transfer your older data records.
• It is important that you do not create an account manually and then try to transfer your account later. Once your username and/or email is registered on the new server, you will be unable to transfer your account data. For this reason, most users will prefer to transfer their account.

NOTE: Do not manually create an account on the new site if you are planning or considering on transferring your data. Once you create an account, you will no longer be able to transfer your data!

Credits

On the old site, credits limited access to certain features and even older records. These are being eliminated and being replaced with a subscription based system. By default, everyone has a basic free subscription. This enables you to record data, view data (even very old data), view charts (with no limits on older charts), chart new cycles, etc. It even supports access to several new features such as new calendar views and a special fertility exchange board.

The only feature offered by the older site that is not supported by the basic subscription is chart shading. Just about everything else that could have been done on the original site with unlimited credits, can now be done for free by default with a basic subscription.

A new Premium Subscription is used to control access to advanced features. These are features that were not even available before such as chart overlays, event analysis, detailed cycle statistics, etc. There are many ways to earn a premium membership including no-cost options. Hormonal Forecaster Synchronization

The new site still supports synchronization with the Hormonal Forecaster. You will need to upgrade to version 5.2 or later of the Hormonal Forecaster to synchronize though. Synchronization with the old site will no longer be supported in newer releases of the Hormonal Forecaster. You therefore will be stuck using version 5.1 of the Hormonal Forecaster if you decide never to upgrade your account to the new server.

Custom Field

Custom events are still supported by the new version. There are also many default events which can also be recorded (not synchronizable to the desktop software though; only the custom events are). One field that has been eliminated is the custom field that was displayed on your charts. The new version of the site is optionally capable of showing all events at the bottom of your chart.

If you used the custom field, it will be moved into a custom event slot if available when you transfer your account. If you already have 20 custom events defined, this field will not be transferred and recorded instances will be lost. You should therefore try to reduce your number of custom events below 20 before transferring your account OR synchronize with the Hormonal Forecaster version 5.1 first to download this data to your computer.

Plans for the Older Site

The older site will continue to operate as-is. Users can continue to use it if desired. Due to the numerous enhancements, most users will decide to transfer to the new server. Eventually the old site will be taken offline once it stops being used. There are no short term plans to shut down the old site though. This will be considered again as the number of logins into the older site begins to decline towards zero.
